Cuba: US & MSM Wrong, Castro Bueno

Since Castro underwent surgury a few months ago, the ability of Cuban-Americans and DC neo-cons to influence a news story has been under full display. Nearly every article about Castro until about a week ago had Fidel on his death bed, basically calling Cuban reports to the contrary lies.

Our Director of National Intelligence, John Negroponte, said our spy agencies believed that Fidel was “terminally ill” and that he had “months, not years." Despite Cuba's 100% truthful (if guarded) statments on his illness and condition, conventional wisdom in the US had it that Castro and was gone for good.

But then an eminent Spanish colon doctor Mr. Garcia Sabrido said the same thing: that Fidel was far from death and could even govern Cuba again.

"His is physical activity is excellent, his intellectual activity intact,” the doctor said in Madrid. “I’d say fantastic. He’s recovering from his previous operation.” Sabrido went on to say that Fidel asked every day to go back to his old work but has been forbidden by his "excellent" doctors.

Still, the MSM continues the lies. ABC News writes: It is difficult to find another example in modern history where the whereabouts and condition of an ailing head of state have been kept secret for so long.

The bizarre situation and distrust of communist authorities led the United States and many other governments to speculate that Castro was dying of cancer.

BIZARRE situation? Kept under secret? Cuba said Fidel had colon surgery, that he was recovering but it would take time and require much rest. That is what is happening, despite all the other lies they've printed. What is bizarre about not letting a country who has vowed to disrupt a "Communist succession" know the details of their arch enemy's exact state?

Patria o Muerte, companero!

Let's be completely truthful, though...Cuba has never said what's wrong with El Comandante..It's a state secret to keep the Yankee Imperialist neo cons from plotting with the Cuban Mafia in Miami and all the other traitors to the cause of freedom that all the Cubans have now including free top of the line medicine sent by the Miami relatives gusanos or the top echelon communist party members get free from Europe and free education if you work in the fields like a slave and no prostitution of Cuban women except to be able to feed their families and equal prosperity and spontaneus joyful celebrations by the brigades of rapid response broken by the imperialist expansionist intentions of Bush and his cronies sabotaging the power grids by sending top secret mental waves from the CIA and highjacking Chavez's oil tankers so there's not enough power in the country..yadda yadda yadda

El Cubano, welcome...

You'll notice though, I DID mention that Cuba has not given all the exact details about Castro - but what it has said has been true and turned out to be most of the story.

I'm not sure how family money sent from Miami will get you better health care in Cuba, please explain. Or are you talking about US-made drugs, which are not allowed in Cuba by the US government? Fortuantely, Cuba has shown it can make due - and achieve better results than most of America without them...

A few weeks of work in the fields is not such a bad thing. Ask American teachers whether they think their kids could benefit from a bit of discipline and community involvement. And you must know that being away from home as a teenager is not at all like slavery - it is freedom my friend.

You should also know that prostitution in Cuba does not compare to anywhere else in the world. Cuban women are not addicts, not sick, nor desperate and are the one's in control. It is not all about sex for money - there is a human element that you won't find anywhere else.

And your mocking of Bush's clearly stated plans for regime change in Cuba would be fine if we the people were aloud to actually read the secret annex to the "Plan for Transformation." Until then, we don't know what is up this rabidly anti-Castro bunch's sleave.

Castro will live forever, just like Communism. Don't worry, Matt. Nothing this great for humanity could ever possibly end.

Speaking of media...

Your boy Chavez doesn't seem to be a fan of opposition.

Mark, considering Matthew actually agrees with Castro's decision in 1960 to close ALL private media in Cuba, it shouldn't surprise anyone that he would support Chavez shutting down RCTV. Granted, he'll find a flowery way to describe the totalitarian action, but he'll support it 100%. In fact, I don't yet know of any action...not one single thing...that Castro or Chavez has done that Matthew hasn't been able to spin and support. You and I may find a few things to criticize about our own party or leaders who we may support despite certain failings, but man...Chavez and Castro are the first human beings on the planet since Christ who evoke not...one...single....possible...criticism from folks like the true believers that Matthew represents. That's what communists do. No room for dissent, man. No room for dissent. It's all or nothing. That's what killing 100 million people in the 20th century will do.

JSB, I've criticized Chavez and Castro before... many things Chavez's big mouth has uttered as well as some early mistakes of the Revolution (treatment of gays, agricultural policy, some economic policies, etc).

If this RCTV closure goes down I will criticize that as well. Not that think they don't deserve it, having wholeheartedly supported a anti-democratic coup and unbelievably ignoring the millions in the street the following days demanding a reversal by playing cartoons... and lying all the way, repeating the coupsters talking points. Certainly they abused their role as an institution that uses the public airwaves.

But I think this non-certification would be a bad idea politically, without much actual benefit (there are loads of other anti-Chavez outlets). I would only support the action if they can prove that RCTV acted differently than the other private channels during the coup. Imagine the reaction if ABC News were to come out in support of a anti-Bush coup, suppressing all contrary information and parroting the coup leaders. There would be public hanging for treason of those executives and reporters. I imagine you two would be on the front lines calling for their execution.

Imagine if CNN took it upon themselves to promote terrorist/enemy propaganda by airing footage of an American serviceman being shot and presumably murdered.

Wait ... a... second...
