US Used Chemical "incendiary" Weapon in Iraq

This image from Italian RAI state television, as part of a documentary aired in Italy Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, allegedly shows white phosphorous being used by U.S. forces in Iraq in November 2004. The documentary alleges the United States used white phosphorous shells 'in a massive and indiscriminate way' against civilians during the November 2004 offensive in Fallujah.

This BBC report quotes witnesses who saw Iraqi's with their clothes untouches, but their skin totally gone. The report said the shells were not used to illuminate enemy fighters at night, as the U.S. government has said, but against civilians.

Wouldn't really surprise me if we did drop "willy pete" as we in the 08 field call it. I suppose you forgot that the US gave ample warning of the destruction that would follow all the warning for citizens to leave town. And I also suppose you would rather Marine go into an urban environment and ask for peace talks with holed-up terrorists.

Like it or not, dropping WP is a tactic we use. Again, collateral damage is a tragedy, but not illegal and most definately not completely avoidable in war. Proportionality was taken into consideration and WP was employed.

Luckily for you, our country's military is an all volunteer force and you will not have to be the one to make those tough decisions. Just keep watching the war from your safe home in LA, we'll take care of it from the ground.

=)

Matthew,

You should be so proud of some of your readers who agree with you - like this intellectual dwarf 'ow' who posted above.

With compelling words like 'F#^$%@#' and 'crap,' I'm sure you're beaming with pride at the current condition of the anti-war movement. I'm sure it took him/her quite a while to formulate that response.

Haha.

Changing subjects real quick, one of the first things I'm going to do when I get home is purchase a handgun (maybe two; one for my bride-to-be) and go to the range with my fiance and siblings ... is that something you and Pam would be interested in doing with us? We could make it a day and finally hang out. Then you could finally see how us gun-toting Republicans live!! Haha. But seriously, no sarcasm intended, think about it. Just a thought.

Hope all is well in Cali ... enjoy it for me.
